    RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES

Research Options
The Department of Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Science offers a varied assortment of research opportunities each year. Graduate students may work closely with undergrads and faculty.  And, because all of our faculty appreciate the value of learning through experience, the entire outdoors is your laboratory.

The Department of Applied Physics and Computer Science offers potential students a wide variety of research project opportunities for Master's Theses.  If you are interested in any of these topics, you should contact the PCSE faculty member identified with it.  Faculty are generally interested in refining or modifying the topics  to accommodate your interests and aspirations.
Geographic Location
Whether Environmental Science or Applied Physics and Computer Science studies, our geographic location between the York and James Rivers, near the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay, places us in close proximity to the broad Bay marshes, the Grafton Plains, the Great Dismal Swamp and the Barrier Island system; in the heart of high-tech Hampton Roads with ties in area national labs and newly developing companies.
