Research
Experience
Present "The potential for gene flow and introgression into a locally-adapted population of Lobelia cardinalis"
Dissertation research, Dr. Laura Galloway, University of Virginia, Dept. of Biology
The consequences of gene flow from non-local populations, intraspecific pollen competition, and interpopulational hybrid performance in the field are being investigated with wild and cultivated populations of locally-adapted L. cardinalis.1997 "Allozyme variation among populations: the Monarda hybrid complex"
Rotation research, Dr. Doug Taylor, University of Virginia, Dept. of Biology
Natural populations of M. clinopodia, M. fistulosa, and interspecific morphological hybrids were analyzed via starch gel electrophoresis in order to better understand population structure.1996 "The ecotype concept in an applied ecological context: The biology of two native ornamental plant species - Lobelia cardinalis and Rudbeckia hirta"
Master's thesis, Dr. Christopher Sacchi, University of Virginia, Dept. of Env.Sci.
Differences in phenological, morphological, and life history traits of distant populations of L. cardinalis and R. hirta were assessed in both horticultural and natural field environments.
