Begin narrowing your selection of schools to which you would like to apply and familiarize yourself with professional school course requirements in your area of interest as soon as you begin your freshman year. Choose at least a couple of dream schools which you would love to attend. Then choose several schools which you would like to attend and for which you feel you are competitive. Finally, choose a few schools for which you feel you are very competitive as backup schools. Avoid anything that would hinder your ability to get medical school loans, and pay off all consumer debt before you apply to medical school.
