Gary Whiting is an Ecosystem Ecologist who works on plant production and bacteria interactions in wetland and terrestrial systems. Some of his outside hobbies include taking his three children fishing and introducing them to the playground of toys in the scientific lab. He also enjoys outdoor activities such as rollerblading, hiking in the Canadian Rockies, softball, tennis, and basketball. |

 THE WHITING RESEARCH LAB > studies the trace gas emissions in boreal wetlands of northern Canada. The research examines the processes of methane emission and carbon dioxide exchange from the vegetated surface of permafrost and melted peatland bogs.
